An Optimal Project Scheduling Model with Lump-Sum Payment
نویسنده
چکیده
Project scheduling is essential in enterprise operations. Not only does it increase working efficiency but also the enterprise’s profit. In the past, there have been studies developing heuristic algorithms to efficiently solve the complicated multi-mode resource constrained project scheduling problem with discounted cash flows (MRCPSPDCF). These obtained solutions are approximate rather than optimal, making it difficult to evaluate their solution quality. In this study, an optimization model, embedded in a time-precedence network, is proposed to optimally solve the MRCPSPDCF with lump-sum payment. Mathematically, the model is formulated as an integer network flow problem with side constraints, which can be efficiently solved for optimality, using mathematical programming software. To evaluate the model performance, numerical tests are performed. The test results show the good performance of the model.

Project scheduling Net present value We consider a project scheduling problem with permitted tardiness and discrete time/resource trade-offs under maximum net present value objective. In this problem, a project consists of a set of sequential phases such that each phase contains one or more sub-projects including activities interrelated by finish-start-type precedence relations with a t...
متن کاملProject resource investment problem under progress payment model
As a general branch of project scheduling problems, resource investment problem (RIP) considers resource availabilities as decision variables to determine a level of employed resources minimizing the costs of the project. In addition to costs (cash outflows), researchers in the later extensions of the RIP took payments (cash inflows) received from clients into account and used the net present v...
متن کاملFour Payment Models for the Multi-Mode Resource Constrained Project Scheduling Problem with Discounted Cash Flows
In this paper, the multi-mode resource constrained project scheduling problem with discounted cash flows is considered. The objective is the maximization of the net present value of all cash flows. Time value of money is taken into consideration, and cash inand outflows are associated with activities and/or events. The resources can be of renewable, nonrenewable, and doubly constrained resource...
متن کاملA New Bi-Objective Model for a Multi-Mode Resource-Constrained Project Scheduling Problem with Discounted Cash Flows and four Payment Models
The aim of a multi-mode resource-constrained project scheduling problem (MRCPSP) is to assign resource(s) with the restricted capacity to an execution mode of activities by considering relationship constraints, to achieve pre-determined objective(s). These goals vary with managers or decision makers of any organization who should determine suitable objective(s) considering organization strategi...
متن کاملPublic Sector Procurement: Lump-Sum Payments or Optimal Contracts?
In a dynamic setting, we compare procurement schemes in the form of a lump-sum payment with an optimal information-revealing menu of contracts without commitment. We nd that lump-sum contracts generate two bene ts. First, they always provide optimal levels of e ort. Second, they `tie the hands' of the procurer, and avoid the ratchet e ect. These bene ts must be weighed against the costs of high...
